Team Show

RoboMaster Robotics Competition focuses on the comprehensive application and engineering practice ability of the participating members in science and engineering disciplines, fully integrating many robot related technical disciplines such as "machine vision", "embedded system design", "mechanical control", "inertial navigation", "human-computer interaction", etc. At the same time, the innovative combination of e-sports presentation and robotic competition makes the robot confrontation more intuitive and intense, attracting the attention and participation of many technology enthusiasts and the public.

Rules Overview

The participating teams independently develop different types of robots, and launch projectiles in the complex battlefield. The robots need to cooperate with each other and work together. Matches last up to 7 minutes, the team with the highest remaining Base HP wins the match.

Hero Robot

Launch 42mm projectiles at their opponent that cause a larger amount of damage.

Standard Robot

Launch 17mm projectiles, complete on field tasks that activate boosts.
Engineer Robot

Delivers projectiles and resurrects teammates.

Aerial Robot

Attacks from the air and provides a birds eye view for the entire team.

Sentry Robot

The Sentry must be fully autonomous. It moves along the Sentry Rail and defends the base with 17mm projectiles.

The RoboMaster 2019 Robotics Competition is open to international universities. As long as you love robots and hope to show your talent and wisdom on the RoboMaster Robotics Competition, you can apply for registration!

Starting a team

Students from colleges and universities, including mechanical, electronic, control, software, computer, PR and other related fields , form a research and development team of 5-35 people. The participating universities must be full-time undergraduate and postgraduate colleges. Participants must be students enrolled in universities before October 2019.

In principle, only one team in the same school is eligible to participate. Two or more schools that do not have separate teams can form an intercollegiate team.

Register for the competition

Complete the registration of the personal information and team information on the RoboMaster website from 12:30(Beijing time) September 20, 2018 to 24:00(Beijing time)October 31, 2018. You can choose to create a new team or join an existing one.

Get support

The materials required for the competition can be purchased through educational discounts;

The first year of the participating universities in the mainland China will receive a standard robot. Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and Overseas teams will receive two standard robots;

Provide transportation and accommodation during International Regional Competition, Wild Card Competition, Final Tournament;

Provide all-round support for team operations, business, publicity, project management, technology research and development;

Overseas teams will also provide round-trip airfare subsidies.

Technical assessment

In the research and development cycle of the past six months, the participating teams must pass the technical assessment by submitting videos, pictures, documents, etc. at the specified time, and show the progress of the preparation to the organizing committee.

The organizing committee will review whether the qualification of the team is qualified according to the completion degree of robot development embodied in each technical assessment node. At the same time, the team that passes the technical assessment nodes on time will receive further material support from the organizing committee.

Obtain qualification

In 2019, the top 96 teams that performed well in the technical assessment will be eligible for the Chinese Regional Competitions. A number of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas teams who have passed the technical assessment will be eligible for the International Regional Competition.

After fierce competition in the Regional Competitions, the winning team will be directly qualified to qualify for the Final Tournament. The remaining teams that are eligible for Wild Card Competition will have to go through the fierce confrontation of the Wild Card Competition and compete for the valuable seats in the Final Tournament.

Q1: Where can I find updates during the robotics season?

A1: The RoboMaster Organizing Committee will post important information on the official RoboMaster Website and Forum. Teams will receive the update via e-mail.

Q2: What technical backgrounds are needed to form a team? How many people are needed?

A2: Mechanical group: Give the robot the "body". The machine is the foundation and core of the whole team. The demand for mechanical personnel is around 6;

Electrical group: Give the robot the "soul", which allows the robot to move flexibly according to the instructions.

The electronic control is divided into hardware direction and software direction. The hardware direction is mainly responsible for the design and production of the circuit. It requires about 3 hardware circuit design experiences.

The software direction is mainly responsible for writing the control code of the robot action execution. The robots of each service type are responsible for at least one software direction. The total number is generally about five.

Algorithm Group: Gives the robot a "brain" that allows the robot to automatically recognize the corresponding image and react accordingly. Need to be responsible for image processing algorithms about 3 people.

Q3: How long is the RoboMaster Robotics Competition? What is a reasonable R&D schedule?

A3: This competition lasts around seven months starting from the beginning of registration to competition (altough veteran teams typically prepare for competition all year round). RoboMaster Robotics Competition allow participants to have at least 7 months of preparation. Sample of Monthly Progress:

Month 1: Read through the RoboMaster 2019 Robotics Competition Rules Manual, begin the technical proposal for each robot and discuss the details with teammates.

Month 2: Finish first version of robot(s).

Month 3: Complete the first itteration of debugging, and optimization.

Month 4-5: Complete the second design iteration. Review and test.

Month 6-7: Complete the third iteration of robot(s) designs. Coordinate team member roles for competition.

Q4: How much should my team budget for materials and travel expenses?

A4: Materials: The funds are suitable for around USD $ 15,000-25,000, and the investment of each robot is between USD $ 1,500-3,000.

Travel: Budget will vary depending on the distance a team is from the competition venue.

Q5: How are regionals divided?

A5: The RoboMaster 2019 Robotics Competition has Regionals in north, south, and central China. The International Regional Competition takes place in Shenzhen. The specific venues for each regional will be released at a later date.
